Under a waxing crescent moon a mere few weeks before Halloween, Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library and Union Cemetery Historical Society are convening for an eerie evening of creepy campfire stories. So pack your provisions and make your way out to Camp FrankenWines, a spooky-season storytelling event under the stars at the historic Union Cemetery, where over 55,000 souls have been laid to rest.

This year, it’ll be an especially ghoulish affair, as we will be gathering for two nights – join us on Thursday, October 3 or Friday, October 4. Your ticket will come with a special treat from McLain's Bakery, and boozy or non-alcoholic libations. We'll serve wine, and complimentary beer will be provided on a first come, first served basis, thanks to Boulevard Brewing Company (while supplies last!).

All attendees must be 21 years of age or older.

5:30 PM | Gates open and check-in begins at Union Cemetery
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM | Spine-chilling stories performed by voice actor Zach Lickerman
*There will be one 15-minute intermission

Seating will be offered in the grass on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own chairs and blankets, and feel free to pack a twilight picnic complete with all your favorite fall snacks and beverages. Make sure to stop by the Union Cemetery Historical Society merch table for some cemetery swag!

Please note that there is one accessible portable restroom on site.

Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed at all times, picked up after, and will not interrupt the performance.

If there is a strong possibility of precipitation or very cold weather, we will issue a cancellation message to all ticket holders by 12:00 PM on the day of the event.

Accessibility:
Traveling to the event location may include high grass, bumpy terrain, and/or hills. If you require a more accessible route, please let our check-in volunteers know that you would like to pull your vehicle down the driveway for a drop-off closer to the staging area. We will also reserve a section in the front of the staging area for those who would like to be close to the drop-off area and presenter.

Parking:
Available along Warwick Trafficway directly outside the cemetery gate, as well as along the street in the Union Hill neighborhood. Unless specifically requested for accessibility, parking will not be available inside the cemetery.

About the venue:
Union Cemetery--founded in 1857--is the oldest public cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri, and the resting place of many Kansas City founders. It is filled with rich history and stories of politicians, artists, entrepreneurs, war heroes, and every-day people making a difference within a changing society.
Union Cemetery Historical Society was founded in 1984 as a 501c3 organization to restore, maintain, and preserve the burial records of Union Cemetery. Their purpose is to preserve, protect, and promote this historic gem of Kansas City. In this effort the Society gives tours, provides learning experiences, assists with care and beautification, aids genealogical research, promotes the cemetery to the public, and more.
