In the late 1800s, the Town of Kansas was on the doorstep of the Wild West, becoming the settled-upon home to cowboys, railroaders, steamboat travelers & immigrants. By the turn of the century, Kansas City was recognized as a lawless, wide-open town, where nothing seemed to be off-limits. The Pendergast Machine and the KC Mob took hold of the city government and ruled for decades.
